About Theater of the Mind
Over the course of one semester, a sound design class at Georgia Southern University is charged to re-create a radio drama from the early twentieth century. While they have all the training and modern resources, their only personal connection to the era is through textbooks.
Featuring famed performers from the Golden Age of Radio, discover the challenges of creating compelling content through the lens of those at the beginning and end of their careers, in a place as big as your imagination.
Georgia Southern University presents Theater of the Mind, a JamesWorks Entertainment/JMP production, featuring Edith Ivey (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, “In the Heat of the Night”), Rosemary Rice (“Archie Andrews,” “CBS Mystery Theater”), Michael McDougald (Vice-Chairman, Georgia Public Broadcasting), Barry Stoltze (President, Atlanta AFTRA), Richard Fish (Founder, the Lodestone Catalog), and Michele Hilmes (Director, Wisconsin Center for Film and Theater Research). The film is directed by James Kicklighter (Di Passaggio, That Guy: the Legacy of Dub Taylor), produced by Kicklighter & Jonathan Pope (Black in America, Di Passaggio), and edited by Pope, from executive producers Melanie Stone and Joanna Bastarache.
