About the Film
From multi-award winning director James Kicklighter, Final Acts is the story of a revered actress' return to her roots as seen through the lens of an aspiring filmmaker, exploring the tenuous relationship between life and performance.
Gateway Macon presents Final Acts, a JamesWorks Entertainment/Bright Blue Sky Production, starring Edith Ivey (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), Jason Burkey (October Baby), September Carter (Followed), and Sylvia Boykin (The Tenant), from a screenplay by James Kicklighter & Mark Ezra Stokes & Maureen Cooke. The producers are James Kicklighter, Kasey Ray-Stokes, Mark Ezra Stokes, Elliott Dunwody, and Heidi Lancaster. The director of photography and editor is Stephanie Shadden, with an original score from Bruce Kiesling.
About the Gateway Macon Competition
Macon Shorts film competition received submissions from around the globe. The films had to include at least three Macon locations and be shot in town. Before the awards were given, each of the finalists were introduced and spoke about their experience filming a movie in Macon. Finalists included: Superhero by Kristin Wright, The Razzle by Joseph Guay, both of Atlanta, and Final Acts by James Kicklighter of Savannah.
Judging was conducted by a panel made up of Carrie Preston (HBO's "True Blood"), Lisa Sheridan (ABC's "Invasion"), Gabe Wardell (Former Director, Atlanta Film Festival), and Lee Cuthbert (Locations Specialist, Georgia Film, Music, and Digital Entertainment). Final Acts by James Kicklighter won the Grand Prize, also recieiving the Sense of Place Award.
